Demise Of Chairman Emeritus

The Board of Directors (“the Board”) of Samudera Shipping Line Ltd (the “Company”) wishes to announce, with great sadness, the demise of Mr Soedarpo Sastrosatomo, Chairman Emeritus, on Monday, 22 October 2007.

Mr Soedarpo Sastrosatomo, the founder of the Samudera Indonesia Group, was the Chairman of the Company, since the Company’s listing on the Singapore Exchange Limited in 1997. Although Mr Soedarpo retired as Chairman and a Director of the Company on 27 April 2005, he remained as Chairman Emeritus.

The Board offers their condolences to the family members of Mr Soedarpo and wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude for Mr Soedarpo’s guidance and invaluable contribution to the success of the Group all these years.
